Pompey's proposed new badge is currently with lawyers as its unveiling edges nearer.

The design was approved by the Heritage & Advisory Board earlier this month but remains under wraps.

Presently, lawyers are scrutinising the revamped badge to ensure it meets copyright requirements – the driving force behind the change.

Mark Catlin is unable to put a timeframe on when that process will be completed.

But he is convinced supporters will be ‘pretty pleased’ with the outcome.

The Blues’ chief executive said: ‘As has been spoken about, the crest was on the agenda at the recent Heritage & Advisory Board and we are quite hopeful over the coming weeks and months that we will be able to release more details.

‘As Eric Eisner said recently, we think fans are going to be pretty pleased with the final outcome.

‘That is specifically in regards to most people loving our existing crest.

‘It was always a case of trying to keep as closely as we could to that but still giving us the ability to trademark it as our own.

‘We now have to go through a legal process to make sure all the protections are in place.

‘Once we have got that then we can’t wait to get the design out to Pompey fans.’

Meanwhile, the Blues are also in the process of wrapping up a contract for a new kit supplier.

Sondico’s existing five-year deal expires at the season’s end – with a parting of the ways inevitable.

Catlin added: ‘We are still involved in detailed discussions regarding a (kit supplier) contract.

‘We are pushing to get it signed and will make it known to Pompey fans as soon as possible.’
