A walking football festival was held at Westleigh Park in memory of Rich Bonsey.

The competition was organised by the Havant & Waterlooville walking football team, for whom Bonsey was a very enthusiastic and inspirational early member of the club who sadly passed away from cancer in 2017.

Eight teams representing all ages competed, with the winners of the mini-league being an All-Stars team led by Hawks stalwarts Bobby De Ste Croix and Shaun Gale.

The Clive Wilkin Fair Play Trophy went to the Hannah’s Holiday Home Appeal team, made up of players from Hawks Academy who really bought into the spirit of the day superbly.

Clive, another member of the Hawks walking football team, passed away in 2019.

The charities benefiting were: Rowans Hospice, Hannah’s Holiday Homes Appeal, Chestnut Tree House, British Heart Foundation and Snows Mission 60. The latter is an initiative by Snows Group – one of Hawks’ sponsors - to raise money for local charities.

Hawks Walking FC was formed in September 2016 with just four players. They now have more than 65 – ranging in age from just over 50 to 84 – playing three times a week at Westleigh Park. In addition, Hawks enter teams into county and national FA tournaments.
