From Comic Con to the kite festival, from the Great South Run to Beach Dubbin, there are plenty to choose – especially as Portsmouth hosts the commemorations for the 80th anniversary of D-Day. Many more dates will be added to our calendars in the coming months as more and more event details are confirmed, but here are some of the biggest and best events we are most looking forward to this year:
5. The Garden Show at Stansted
The Garden Show at Stansted Park has been a summer highlight for over 29 years and this year is taking place from June 7 to 9 2023. Set over three days, it features specialist growers, garden related goods, artisan designs, homeware products, fashion accessories & delicious country foods. There are talks, demonstrations, activities for young & old, expert advice and a variety of music & entertainment. 6. Southwick Revival
The clock will be turned back to the 1940s on June 8 and 9 when the fabulous Southwick Revival makes a return. This year's event coincides with the 80th anniversary of the Normandy Landings which will give the event added poignancy. Details at: https://southwickrevival.co.uk/ Photo: Sam Stephenson
7. Portsmouth Pride
Taking place on Southsea Common on July 6, Portsmouth Pride is a free event which promotes inclusiveness as well as a great day out. 2024 will see a host of top acts perform on Southsea Common, Many are still TBA but your first headliner has been revealed as Drag Race UK series 5 sensation Vicki Vivacious!. 8. Race for Life
A weekend of fun and fundraising will take place on June 29 and 30 to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. The 'Pretty Muddy' 5k event will take place on June 29 leaving from Southsea Common featuring a number of fun obstacles for participants to navigate. The standard 5k event takes place on June 30.
