Cita Haines scored twice and set up the other two goals as Fareham ladies continued their push for the South Women’s League Division 3B crown with a 4-0 win over Aldershot & Farnham.

With four games left, Fareham remain one point clear of Old Georgians, who trimmed Horsham 5-2.

Fareham seldom looked back after Vicky Field gave them a 13th minute lead, sprinting on to a defence-splitting pass from Haines before rounding the goalkeeper.

Two minutes later Haines switched roles by doubling Fareham’s lead after Lydia Jackson’s run into the D down the left.

Fareham wrapped it up with two more goals in quick succession early in the second period – Haines making it 3-0 after an exchange of passes with her former Trojans team-mate Heather Batten, and then combining with Hannah Oldham to set up a fourth goal for Bel Capper.

Next up for Fareham is a Saturday morning (Henry Cort,11.45am) duel with Southampton, who lost 2-1 to Havant despite a goal by Nat Romain.

Winchester swept to a fifth win in seven unbeaten matches with a 7-0 drubbing of Tulse Hill & Dulwich and just might prove a late season problem for title-chasing Fareham on Saturday week.
