Hide AdAllen said MacGillivray showed impressive mental toughness to rectify the situation with his penalty save.
He also said the incident would not knock his own confidence in the keeper, who has already proved a shrewd piece of business by manager Kenny Jackett.
Speaking in the latest edition of Pompey Talk, Allen said: 'It was one of those moments where perhaps over-excited is the wrong word, but he dropped the ball and was desperate to make amends.
'He got a bit carried away and just jumped in and slid into Kee.

Hide Ad'You can debate if he slightly got the ball or not, but he went through the man anyway, it was a penalty, no argument, clear-cut for me.
'But he made amends swiftly with that save and he's been a really good player (since he arrived at Pompey).
'You can talk about his mentality that he gave that away but he made the save.
'So he's a very strong, mentally, keeper as well and he's been a really good signing,

'He doesn't drop anything when he comes for crosses as well, is very confident, and he made a couple of good saves later on as well.'
MacGillivray has made 16 Pompey appearances this term, keeping five clean sheets.
