Michael Jacobs has been added to the injury list after suffering a recurring knee injury that has ruled him out for the remainder of the season.
It’s a big blow for Danny Cowley, with Ellis Harrson (knee) also out for the campaign while Jordy Hiwula (ankle) may only feature again if the Blues make it into the play-offs.
And despite John Marquis now available having served a three-match suspension, he’s also been struggling with an ankle problem.
One option Pompey could look to turn to is signing a free agent for the rest of the term.
The Blues do currently have 22 players aged above 21 registered and would have to gain permission from the EFL to make a change to their squad.
The EFL would have to regard it as ‘truly exceptional circumstances’.
There aren’t too many unattached players who would be the ilk Pompey need in a promotion push.
