Today is the day that all clubs will meet to choose whether a salary cap will be implemented for the upcoming 2020-21 season.
League One clubs are voting for a ceiling of £2.5m on playing budgets, which includes tax, National Insurance, medical costs, agents’ fees, appearance and win bonuses.
Players already contracted will be treated as the divisional average wage of £1,300 per week.
Pompey are firmly against the salary cap and need another eight allies to reject the proposal.
We’ve taken a look at what each club has been saying in the build-up...
1. Accrington Stanley
Owner Andy Holt was firmly behind last season being curtailed amid the Covid-19 outbreak. Holt's been quiet on Twitter for almost three months, although a wage ceiling would help Stanley be on a level playing field to the bigger clubs in the division. Photo: Dave Howarth
2. AFC Wimbledon
A wage cap would impact the London-based Dons given how much more it costs to live in the capital than elsewhere. However, manager Glyn Hodges previously told his clubs website 'we are building a stadium at the moment, so a lot of the finances have been geared to that' which could mean they're in favour. 3. Bristol Rovers
Despite their already-busy summer in the transfer market, Bristol Live have reported that Rovers are in support of a salary cap and trust head coach Ben Garner to improve the players at the club. Photo: Pete Norton
4. Burton
Chairman Ben Robinson has said he'll be backing the salary cap and will be surprised if it doesn't go through. However, he accepts clubs like Pompey need time to adapt to the new reality. Photo: Clive Mason
