The Blues boss answered the football correspondent’s WhatsApp message over the weekend asking for an update on Fratton Park transfer developments as the clock ticks down on tonight’s 11pm deadline.
And Cowley duly obliged with a video call that showed him and his backroom staff working late into the night on Sunday in an effort to get deals over the line.

All were, according to Cowley, working hard to get some last-minute deals done and dusted
Yet, as of 2pm today, there was no official word of such work paying off.
Indeed, it appears as if Pompey will need to up their offer if they want to conclude a deal for Rotherham midfielder Jamie Lindsay.

Pompey are keen to add another midfielder and forward to their ranks before the day is out.
Although, there’s still the small matter of tonight’s home game against Charlton to contend with,

‘We've had quite a lot of players that have moved on and have had the opportunity to bring some in, which we're really pleased about.
‘We've brought Hayden Carter in on loan from Blackburn, we've brought in Tyler Walker, who obviously we worked with before on loan from Coventry.
‘We've been able to sign Denver Hume on a permanent deal, which we're really, really pleased about - and also young Ollie Webber, a young keeper who comes in and adds to that department as well.

‘We'd really like to bring in a midfield player and another attacking player before the window shuts.
‘I'm just going to leave my office (and you'll see) the rest of the staff are here working - and they just want to say hello as well.
‘I've got Nicky, Lorenzo and Simon Bassey here, who, like I said, are all working hard at it to get the deals that we would like over the line.’
Pompey have until 11pm to complete any further business.
And it seems the lights will be on late for a second night at this rate!
