League One: Cook's Wigan suffer shock home loss

Nathan Thomas' late goal dragged Shrewsbury to the top of League One last night after long-time table-toppers Wigan slumped to a second successive loss.

The Shrews won 2-1 win at Fleetwood, while Paul Cook’s Wigan crashed to a shock home loss to lowly Blackpool.

Shaun Whalley bagged his sixth league goal of the campaign just before half-time, then laid on Thomas’ 82nd-minute winner.

Paddy Madden had bagged a 59th minute equaliser for Fleetwood.

First-half goals from Armand Gnanduillet and Kelvin Mellor gave Blackpool a 2-0 win at Wigan.

Graham Carey, David Fox, Ryan Taylor and Ruben Lameiras all struck as upwardly mobile Plymouth beat AFC Wimbledon 4-2, Lyle Taylor twice replying.

Chris Lines’ 79th-minute drive earned Bristol Rovers a 3-2 win over Rochdale, with Liam Sercombe and Joe Partington also netting.

Ian Henderson twice replied.

Rock bottom Bury played out a goalless home draw with a Southend side who now face Pompey at home on Saturday.

Tyrell Robinson’s 80th-minute header secured Bradford a 1-1 draw at Charlton, who had led through Josh Magennis.

Goals from Josh Parker and Tom Eaves gave Gillingham a 2-1 win at Northampton, for whom Ash Taylor replied.

Anthony Gerrard’s 40th-minute header secured Oldham a 1-0 home win over fellow strugglers MK Dons.
