A POMPEY fan's disappointment turned into elation on Saturday after he won £10,000 in a mobile competition.

Brett Harley was left ‘massively disappointed’ after Pompey’s loss to Blackpool at Fratton Park at the weekend.

But the 37-year-old’s day took a bright turn after he received a call to tell him he had won £10,000 in Sky Sports’ Super 6 contest.

The free mobile game requires football fans to predict the scores of six Saturday fixtures from across England – granting them points for each correct result.

Brett racked up a whopping 24 points – the nation’s highest – after correctly guessing the exact final scoreline of four matches.

Brett, from Gosport, who received the news just minutes after the final whistle blew at Fratton Park, said: ‘I couldn’t believe it – I felt like I was drifting in and out of reality on the way home.

‘The loss against Blackpool was probably the worst I’ve seen Pompey play in a good five years, so this news certainly brightened up my day.’

A 2017 English literature graduate from the University of Portsmouth, the married Bay House School worker said the cash will be spent ‘sensibly’.

He said: ‘I’d love to say I’ll be buying a sports car and an exotic holiday, but this will go toward paying off my student loan.

‘It doesn’t seem a flash way to spend the money now, but it’s sensible and it’ll be so worth it in the long run.’

Brett correctly predicted that Liverpool would beat West Ham 4-1, and that Southampton would be held to a 1-1 draw away to Burnley. He also got the 2-2 draw between Bournemouth and Newcastle spot on, plus predicted that Huddersfield would win 2-1 away at West Brom. He got the result - but not the scoreline - right for Brighton’s win at home to Swansea and Reading’s draw with Derby.
