Portsmouth pays tribute to woman, 59, after she dies in Portsmouth Harbour incident

The 59-year-old was spotted in the water off the Hovertravel slipway, off Clarence Esplanade, at around 5.30pm on Saturday.
Coastguard, lifeboat crews and police were alerted by frantic members of the public who called 999.

Hide AdThe woman was found unresponsive in the water and brought ashore at Camber Dock, Old Portsmouth by a Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service crew.
The crew - including a Hampshire paramedic - fought to save her life giving CPR but she was confirmed dead at Queen Alexandra Hospital.
It’s not known why the woman entered the water but an eyewitness saw her enter and said it was a ‘tragic accident’.
Now messages of condolences have been spread on The News’ Facebook page.

Police have said the death is not being treated as suspicious. The Solent Flyer hovercraft was not involved in the tragedy.
