Ambulance rolls on its side after crash with lorry on M3 in Hampshire

The emergency service vehicle was not on active operational duty when it was involved in the collision on the M3 this morning.
It happened on the northbound carriageway of the motorway between junction 9 and junction 8.

Hide AdHighways England have reported that the M3 is currently shut between these two junctions following the crash.
A spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service said: ‘We received a 999 call at 11:10 with the caller reporting a collision between a lorry and an ambulance on the M3 northbound between junctions 9 and 8, resulting in the ambulance rolling over on to its side.
‘We currently have a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance and our Hazardous Area Response Team at the scene who have reported that both drivers of the two vehicles are currently being assessed for minor injuries.
‘The ambulance was one of ours but was being driven by a member of our fleet maintenance team and was not on active operational duty.’

Hide AdIn a tweet Highways England South East wrote: ‘The #M3 has been closed from J9 #Winnal towards J8 #NorthWaltham to allow the Emergency Services to deal with the on-going incident.’
A diversion route is currently in place with drivers asked to follow the ‘Solid Diamond’.
