Man seriously hurt in 40ft fall from footbridge in Portsmouth
The incident happened at the First Hampshire footbridge, which crosses the A3 London Road, in Hilsea, near to the bus depot.
South Central Ambulance Service was called to the scene at 12.12pm today.

Hide AdA spokesman said: ‘We were called to a man in his 40s who had fallen from the First Hampshire footbridge.
‘He had fallen 40ft and received multiple injuries.
‘We sent a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance, plus an officer and the air ambulance.
‘He was taken to Southampton General Hospital by air ambulance with potentially life-threatening injuries, although he was conscious and breathing.’
Police were also called at 12.18pm by the ambulance service.

Hide AdA Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: ‘The man was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment.
‘Officers would like to reassure members of the public that this is not being treated as a suspicious incident.’
People who saw the incident and aftermath were shocked.
One First Bus worker, who did not want to be named, said: ‘I saw the helicopter land at the back. There were police cars around. It was bad, really bad.’
