Local reaction to David Cameron's resignation
Alan Mak, the MP for Havant, said: ‘David Cameron has been an outstanding prime minister.
‘I am extremely sad he has decided to stand down but I understand the reasons.

‘The British people have given clear instructions about our relationship with Europe.
‘We need to finish what they carried out.’
Hayling Ukip Councillor John Perry was pleased and said he believed David Cameron and George Osborne had led a campaign of ‘project fear’.
He said: ‘Threats of World War Three, doom and gloom the economy – I just don’t believe it.
‘I’m glad the people of Britain did not believe it and had faith in Britain.
‘I think it’s quite right they should go.’
