We Can Do It Awards: Volunteers who made 14,000 sets of scrubs poured their heart and soul into community project
A huge wave of support for key workers came from Team Scrubbers, a dedicated group of volunteers headed up by Lin Gell from Warsash.
Lin pulled together a sewing team last April, who stitched more than 14,500 sets of scrubs, 26,000 masks and 10,000 scrub bags.

Lin said: ‘If anybody told me over a year later we’d still be at it and what we have done, we wouldn’t believe it.
‘It’s been a lovely year but it has been hard. It’s just amazing what was achieved in that time by everybody.
‘We have done so much in the community as well. We have done our best and I definitely feel that we have achieved a lot.’

Hide AdLin and her seamstress friends recently celebrated one year since the project began, and Lin looked back on a year of amazing achievements.
As well as sewing thousands of sets of scrubs, the group raised £5,000 for the Royal British Legion and £9,000 for Crisis Food Gosport.
The group gained plenty of support from across the community with monetary donations, a group of bikers helping to deliver scrubs and plenty more.
Lin has thanked everyone who was involved in helping make this project a success, and she is still working hard to this day to keep the key workers in scrubs.
