Southsea firefighters rescue man from Nissan Micra involved in crash in Kingston Road

Southsea fire station dispatched two crews to the emergency at Kingston Road, near the Washington Road junction, at 6.45pm last night.
A man, believed to be in his 30s, was extricated from a Nissan Micra, with paramedics at the scene fearing he had suffered a broken neck as a result of the crash.

Hide AdA firefighter at the scene said: ‘There had been a rear impact to the vehicle.
‘We performed a roof removal to extricate the driver.
‘It’s important to note he was not physically trapped – we took the roof off as a precaution, to remove him while protecting his c-spine.
‘He was taken by hospital by the South Central Ambulance Service.’
The firefighter reported that the other driver – who was uninjured – remained at the scene.
