Children in Need: Pub raises money with 12-hour ping pong game
In a bid to spice up their fundraising efforts, staff at the Southsea Village pub on Palmerston Road decided to set up a charity ‘ping-pongathon’ in aid of Children in Need.
Roger Watson, 43, general manager at the site said: ‘We decided to do a “ping-pongathon” as we have a table in our pub and people really enjoy playing it.

With a fundraising target of £400, staff were pleased to break the £200 mark only two hours in.
‘People can donate £1 to £20, I don’t mind, as long as we raise some money for charity.’
Roger said that the response has been good, with local businesses such as O2, the Jolly Sailor on Clarence Parade and others eager to get involved.
Billy Reed, 20, from Waterlooville was taking part with other team members at O2, and said: ‘I wouldn’t highly rate my ping pong skills, but it’s for a good cause and a good laugh so why not.’
