Three men arrested after BMW crashed into Southsea home

As reported in The News earlier this week, a silver BMW crashed into a property in Waverley Road, Southsea, on Wednesday afternoon.
The car buckled the railings at the front of the property, with bricks falling away from the wall.

Hide AdNow, Hampshire Constabulary has revealed that the driver sped off after seeing a police car – and three men have since been arrested.
A spokeswoman for the police force said: ‘Officers conducting routine patrols in Southsea noticed a silver BMW believed to be driven by a disqualified driver travelling along Albert Road towards the junction with Waverley Road shortly before 3.15pm.
‘On seeing officers, the driver of the BMW began to pick up speed, overtaking other vehicles and turning onto Waverley Road where the vehicle collided with the front wall of one property and the front railings of another.
‘A 24-year-old man from Portsmouth was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving and being the driver of a vehicle which had failed to stop after a road accident.

Hide Ad‘An 18-year-old man from Portsmouth was arrested on suspicion of taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent and driving a motor vehicle dangerously.
‘The third occupant of the vehicle, an 18-year-old man from Portsmouth, was located later that evening and arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and property damage of £5,000 or over.’
The men have been released under investigation and police inquiries are ongoing.
