Teenager attacked and slapped by gang of youths at Fareham railway station with several arrests made

POLICE have made several arrests and are looking for more suspects after a teenager was attacked.

A 16-year-old boy from Gosport was followed by a gang of youths after buying a ticket at Fareham railway station.

On Tuesday, at 5.50pm, he walked to the underpass on The Avenue after spotting four young males leaving the station.

He was followed, grabbed, and pushed against a wall.

One of the thugs tried to take his jacket.

The victim was slapped twice in the face, after one of the attackers threatened to stab him.

He managed to run away after a member of the public walked past the group.

Hampshire Constabulary said several arrests have been made, including a 15-year-old boy from Portsmouth and another youth, 13, from Southsea.

They have been detained on suspicion of attempted robbery.

Another boy from Portsmouth, 15, was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and racially/religiously aggravated assault on occasion actual bodily harm.

All three have been released under investigation.

More teenagers are connected to the assault, with the police releasing four descriptions.

Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘We are now looking for anyone who was in the area at this time who might have seen anyone matching descriptions of the four young males.

‘The first is Asian, aged 15 to 16 years, 5ft 8in tall, skinny, wearing a black cotton balaclava, a black tracksuit top with red writing across the chest and matching black fleece tracksuit bottoms.

‘The second is white, aged 14 to 15 years, 5ft 5in tall, stocky, light brown hair cropped short on top and shaved closer on the sides.

‘He wore a black thin coat, black shorts with a white vertical stripe and black shiny tracksuit bottoms.

‘The third is black, aged 16-17 years, 5ft 11in tall, with a bulky build and black braided hair which was lighter at the tips.

‘He wore a black hooded jumper with yellow markings on the shoulders and black tracksuit bottoms.

‘The fourth is black, aged 16-17 years, 5ft 11in tall and of a bulky build.

‘He wore a black cotton balaclava and a black tracksuit.

‘If you saw anyone matching this description in the vicinity of the train station on this night, please call 101 quoting reference number 44220414270.’
