Portsmouth man arrested after Fratton corner shop is broken into

A MAN has been arrested after a corner shop was burgled earlier this week.

The Spar in New Road, Fratton, was broken into at around 10pm on Tuesday, March 24.

A police investigation is ongoing into the incident – and an arrest has already been made.

A spokeswoman from Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘We have arrested a 39-year-old man from Portsmouth, on suspicion of burglary.

‘He has been released from custody but remains under investigation as our enquiries continue.’

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the police on 101, quoting the crime reference number 44200109730.

Police officers in Portsmouth are continuing to carry out patrols in the city, with the aim of reassuring both local businesses and members of the public.

Any emergency incidents should be reported to the police on 999.
