A DRUG dealer caught with over £14,000 who operated in a ‘management function’ involving a cannabis factory was spared jail after becoming rehabilitated.

George Whiffing, 29, was busted by police who found cannabis and £14,260 at his Lombard Street home, Old Portsmouth, on November 2, 2017.

On July 3, 2018, Whiffing was stopped by police in a car before a search at his address revealed £730 cash and a cannabis factory.

Whiffing admitted possessing cannabis, intent to supply cannabis, two counts of acquiring criminal property, converting criminal property, and production of cannabis.

Judge Timothy Mousley KC told Whiffing: ‘Your part was significant. Your role was a management function in which you would make significant gains.’

The judge said there was a ‘chequered history’ with proceedings but the five-year ‘delay was not your fault’.

He added: ‘It’s quite plain to me you have been rehabilitated.’

Whiffing was handed 16 months jail suspended for 18 months and told to complete 150 hours unpaid work.
