THE court service has confirmed a case of Covid-19 at Portsmouth Crown Court.

In a message to court users on Monday, senior manager Eve Miller said one person tested positive and another person was alerted by NHS Track and Trace as being a close contact, needing to self-isolate.

The manager said: ‘Those awaiting test results or who have received positive test results are self-isolating for a minimum of 10 days from the onset of their symptoms.

‘We wish them a speedy recovery.

‘The main areas attended by these individuals, the cell and dock spaces have both been subject to regular cleans and additional touch point cleans.

‘All individuals using the area have been following social distancing guidelines and have been wearing PPE equipment, therefore the court continues to operate as normal.’

It comes after eight members of staff and a judge were in self-isolation in August following a positive case.

Criminal cases have been ramping up at the Winston Churchill Avenue courthouse with several trials running each week.
