Portsmouth police arrest teenager after reports of man with a machete in Southsea

POLICE have arrested a teenager on suspicion of possessing a blade after officers responded to reports of a machete-wielding man in Southsea.

Officers were called to Bailey’s Road just after midnight in response to a road traffic collision, before following up reports of a man with a machete in the area.

A spokesman from Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘A man was seen in the area who was reported to have a machete with him.

‘Enquiries are ongoing to establish what happened.’

He is in custody.
