Man, 54, charged with 'harming boys in circumcision procedures' in Portsmouth

POLICE have charged a man with harming boys in circumcision procedures in private homes in Portsmouth and other cities across England.

Mohammad Siddiqui, 54, from Hockley in Birmingham has been charged with 34 offences including in Portsmouth, as well as Southampton, Reading, London, and Coventry, between 2015 and 2018.

He has been charged with offences including assault occasioning actual bodily harm and causing unnecessary suffering or injury to a child or young person.

He is also charged with parenterally administering prescription medicine when not an appropriate practitioner.

Siddiqui has been bailed to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on November 6.

It comes as a part of a join investigation between Hampshire Constabulary and Thames Valley Police into physical assaults against children in Hampshire, the West Midlands, West Mercia, Thames Valley, London, Dorset and Wiltshire.

A spokesman from Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘The charges relate to his actions whilst performing circumcision procedures on boys in private residences between 2015 and 2018.’

He added: ‘This investigation related to an individual’s possible criminal actions whilst undertaking circumcision procedures and is not concerned with the practice of circumcision itself.’
