Fareham police officer assaulted while arresting man who was thought to have 'firearm'

The assault took place at Fareham railway station at around 1pm on Wednesday.
Police attended the train station after reports of a man carrying what was described as a firearm.

Hide AdOfficers subsequently seized a knife and three imitation firearms, all believed to be toys.
A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault on an emergency worker, possession of an imitation firearm, and possession of an offensive weapon, namely a knife.
He has been bailed until December 17.
A post on the Facebook page for Fareham Police added: ‘She has been taken to hospital to get checked out but thankfully it would appear there are no serious injuries.
‘We will never tolerate assaults against our people, and it will not been seen as simply ‘part of the job’.
