Anger as work on Pompey training pitch covers Copnor houses in dust
The club is digging up sections of its training ground at Roko Health Club, in Copnor, and people living in nearby Devon Road are unhappy.
They are having to clean their cars twice a week and are spending hours cleaning floors and furniture.

Hide AdResident Trevor Edney recently spent thousands of pounds on new carpets, furniture, a patio and on painting his garden walls
He said: ‘The dust has got everywhere in the house.
‘We had all our windows and doors open because of the weather and the dust is all over the house.
‘It’s all over the floor and in our new carpets.
‘We’ve spent money painting the garden wall and putting in a new carpet and now it’s all covered in dust.
‘There was no warning on the work they were doing and the club has not been responding to our calls.

Trevor said they have been trying to get in touch with the club about the problems for the past six months.
‘Although this is the worst it’s been, these problems have been going on a while,’ he said.
‘We have tried to get in touch with the club to speak to them but we have not got anywhere.’

Hide AdNessen Runghen, who lives on the opposite side of the road, said it was disgusting.
He is waiting for a kidney transplant and is on dialysis three times a week.
‘It is a disgrace, what is happening,’ he said.
‘In weather like this we cannot open our windows without getting more dust.
‘Sometimes I am not well enough to clean and it is making my life more stressful. I do not need it.’

Hide AdPompey moved to Roko Health Club in 2014 in a £1.1m project.
A spokesman from Pompey said: ‘After we realised the problems that were being caused, we got in contact with the contractors and asked them to stop.
‘We will pick it up after the bank holiday to see how we can continue the work without causing more problems.
‘We always want to try and be good neighbours.’
