'˜People's champion' retires from role on Portsmouth health organisation
Tom Morton has been part of Portsmouth Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) since its launch in 2013 and before then served on the Portsmouth City Teaching Primary Care Trust.
But after being a ‘critical friend’ to the NHS in the city Mr Morton is stepping down.

Hide AdGPs have praised his work as a non-executive director and then lay member.
Outgoing clinical leader of the CCG Dr Jim Hogan said: ‘Tom has worked tirelessly on behalf of the people of Portsmouth in a number of areas, including the local NHS which has benefited from his experience, common sense and practical approach.
‘His work has involved him being a critical friend to the NHS – challenging us and or supporting us when the occasion demands. He is the ultimate “People’s Champion”.’
Mr Morton served in the Royal Navy for 37 years and since leaving has devoted his time to public service in roles such housing, schools and community schemes.
