A COUNCIL has said a city tip is still safe to visit after a worker tested positive for Covid-19, as public health rules are being followed.

An employee of the Paulsgrove Household Waste and Recycling Centre (HWRC), in Port Solent, is now isolating at home after testing positive for coronavirus.

A council spokeswoman said: ‘A Veolia Paulsgrove HWRC employee exhibited symptoms and isolated, taking a test that returned a positive result. The employee is continuing to isolate at home, and will not return to work until advised to by Public Health England.’

Some of the safety measures include restricting the numbers of vehicles allowed in at once, a 30 minute cleaning regime of key touch points and social distancing rules.

Pregnant women, residents over 70 years old and vulnerable people are advised not to visit any HWRCs.
