Gosport schools hold street parties for Queen's birthday
Two primary schools in Gosport honoured the Queen’s landmark birthday by dressing in red, white and blue and eating lunch on plates and tables decorated with the union flag.
Bedenham Primary School and Holbrook Primary School have also spent the last two weeks learning about the royal family and British values.

Hide AdLeleana Giddings, a Year 4 pupil at Bedenham Primary, off Bridgemary Avenue, said: ‘The street party was very good because there was lots of food and it was nice to sing songs.
‘I have liked learning about what it means to be British and the facts for the Queen.
‘I enjoyed learning about the Queen most. I know now lots of details about her.’
Ten-year-old Kieran Hillier also liked learning about the Queen.

Hide AdHe added: ‘I learnt she is the longest-reigning monarch. It has been fun having a street party for her birthday.’
Headteacher Caroline Wood said the school is patriotic and encourages British values.
‘The Queen’s birthday was a great opportunity for us to learn about her and what it is to be British,’ she said.
‘This is the second week of Arts Week and the children have been making British objects from clay, making paper crowns and we also taught them the national anthem.’

Hide AdHolbrook Primary School, of Wych Lane, has taken part in similar activities.
For their street party, held yesterday, they had music from different decades playing as well as union flags for the children to wave.
Year 5 pupil Jake Smith, 10, said: ‘The street party was amazing. It was a good way to celebrate the Queen’s birthday.
‘We have done lots of research on her and the royal family. We also made a presentation which was good.’

Hide AdFellow Holbrook pupil nine-year-old Tia Holt added: ‘The day was amazing.
‘It was lots of fun. It was nice to gather together at the long tables for lunch.’
Headteacher Zoe Dudley said the children enjoyed the street party and doing the different activities about the royal family.
