Gosport school makes changes to be rated as good by Ofsted
Siskin Infant and Nursery School in Gosport was given the ‘good’ rating in its latest Ofsted inspection report.
The report was welcomed by Cllr Peter Edgar, education boss at Hampshire County Council, who said Siskin has set a good example for struggling schools.

Hide Ad‘It shows what schools can achieve if they work hard and raise their standards,’ he said.
‘They are a good example for other schools to follow. They have done very well.’
The new rating comes days after Brune Park School, also in Gosport, was rated as inadequate and put in special measures.
In Siskin’s Ofsted report, the inspector found the school had a ‘happy and supportive atmosphere where pupils are nurtured and encouraged.’

Hide AdIt added: ‘Senior leaders have been clear-sighted and shown zest and determination to improve the school to good. Weaker teaching has been supported, or tackled, successfully.
‘Children are taught well and make good progress in the early years.’
Headteacher Jill Roseblade said they will be working hard to make even more improvements.
‘I’m immensely proud of the children and my staff for what has been achieved in such a short space of time,’ she said.

Hide Ad‘The Ofsted inspector stated that what Siskin has achieved in a year is nothing short of phenomenal.
‘We will work hard to make it an outstanding school for our community.’
The report said the school had to improve pupil attendance and focus on subjects outside English and maths to become outstanding.
