The News Business Excellence Awards: New £12m university centre hosts launch event
The official launch was held at the University of Portsmouth's new £12m Future Technology Centre, an extension to the Portland Building in Portland Street, Portsmouth.Â
 Peter Hooley, from the university, said they were proud to be able to showcase the new centre, which is due to open later this year.

Hide AdHe said they were also proud to be involved with the awards for another year. Â
He said: '˜The News' Business Excellence Awards are extremely important to us. Every year we sponsor a category, and this year we are sponsoring two, as they provide an enormous amount of value. It is a great pleasure to host the launch.'Â
The News' Business Excellence Awards are now in their 18th year. They are free to enter and there are 15 categories, ranging from Apprentice of the Year, Community Contribution, International Development up to Large Business of the Year, plus more.
There is also an award given to the Best Overall Business, awarded by the judges to the most outstanding winner of the 15 categories.

Hide AdLucy Gleisner, from headline sponsor law firm Trethowans, said: '˜This will be our third year as headline sponsor and it's been a fantastic two years so far and the third will be even better.'Â
Mark Waldron, editor of The News, said: '˜There is some great work happening in the Portsmouth area and we should celebrate and share that and give ourselves a pat on the back.'Â
The winners of the 2019 awards will be announced at black tie dinner held at the Portsmouth Guildhall on Friday, February 1.
