Buoyant pay for accountants
In 2016, average base salary among qualified Chartered Institute of Management Accountants members in the region reached £63,930, more than twice the average UK wage of £27,600.
The findings were revealed in the CIMA Annual Salary Survey, sponsored by the Global Accounting Network.

Hide AdAndrew Harding, chief executive of CIMA, said: ‘For three years in a row, management accountants have been paid more than twice the national average, and this is reflected in the south east. The salary reveals their enduring value to businesses.’
More than nine out of 10 (95 per cent) of the region’s CIMA members expect their gross annual salary to grow over the next year, and 73 per cent received a bonus in 2016.
