Seacourt reach Hampton Cup semi-finals

OLLIE Clift, Neale Turner, Louis Gordon and Mark Gillespie reached the final four contesting the Hampton Cup – for the right to represent Seacourt in the British Real Tennis Champions of Champions finals at Hampton Court.

After three intensive weeks of play, Clift matched the experience of Turner to win a fantastic encounter 6-2, 6-4.

Gordon traded Gillespie shot for shot, in the other semi which went to the final point in the last game.

A huge rally which saw both players in winning positions ended with Gillespie reaching his first final in a decade.

The final was equally as exciting and again went to the final point. A 20-shot rally saw Gillespie grab the Hampton Cup.

SQUASH:

Seacourt's junior squash section is thriving. You can learn new skills on Thursday night with Dan Jones and Rhys Glide.

The club's first team are third with a game in hand and looking for promotion in the Hampshire League, after several 5-0 victories this season.

Seacourt are through to the semi-finals of the Knockout Cup and stand a good chance of bringing some silverware home to the Island.

The dream team if available is: Rhys Glide, Nick Atkins, Luke Danby, Conor Medlow, Andy Jameson, Matt Jones and Ivan Snell.

Badminton:

Participation continues to grow with the Tuesday club night very popular. Seacourt have entered a fourth team in the local leagues to meet demand.

The Portsmouth Combination and Men's team remain unbeaten and sit second in their respective divisions.

The Churches Mixed and Men's teams have enjoyed a mixed bag of results, playing against wiley opposition at some interesting venues more akin to ice skating than badminton.
