Paul's side go in search of first point

HAYLING United are in Wessex League action at high-flying Winchester City, on Saturday as United boss Lee Paul goes in search of his first win.

The new Humbugs side, who have yet to win in their first three Premier Division matches is back from his holiday to Barcelona, after a tough start to management.

In fact, his team are still searching for their first point and have already been knocked out of the FA Cup.

Paul said: "We always knew that the first month would be tough for us with the fixtures we have got.

"They are all against top-of the-table contenders so if we can come away with any points it will be good.

"We will have to improve on last week's performance at Bemerton where we conceded three goals before half-time."

The return of Darren Watts has tightened up the defence and the PE teacher who took over from Mark Poulton during the summer, expects new signing Aaron Wilson from Gosport Borough to make his debut.

Dale Field (holiday) and Steve Black - who is playing for England's beach soccer team in Portugal - are away, but Peter Murphy is back after rib problems.

Winchester City v Hayling United (KO 3pm): Boyle, Goldring, Oliver, Watts, Turner, Warren, Black, Wilson, Murphy, Tambling, Pitkeightly, Sackman, Keogh, Snook, Rudling.
