Mist sees way back for local derby
CAPTAIN Phil Mist returns to lead Hayling Island in their local derby against Emsworth in County Division Four South of the Hampshire League, on Saturday.
Hayling have home advantage at West Town as Mist's men aim to keep the pressure on leaders Rowner, who inflicted their first defeat of the season, at Hayling Park two weeks ago.
Hayling bounced back well from that loss by beating Paultons II by four wickets last weekend.
And Emsworth will be keen to make up for last year's heavy defeat when they make the short journey across Langstone Bridge.
In-form batsmen Sam Thompson said: "It should be interesting because we beat them heavily last year, but lost poorly to them the year before that."
Mist will take the place of Neil Blackey but his opposite number James Swaine believes Emsworth, currently eighth in the table, can cause an upset.
He said: "We got back to winning ways last week and have three players coming back in for this one."
Swaine, Pete Hole and Rob Windebank are back in the first XI for Emsworth. Pete Emery – playing his first game of the season - helped his side to a 44-run win over Hursley Park II after recovering from a knee injury.
Hayling picked up 22 points for their win over Paultons II, after dismissing the hosts for 103. Mike Lever did the damage picking up three wickets for just four runs after Paultons opted to bat.
