Hayling win in the New Forest
HAYLING United's Mike Lever notched another half-century as his promotion-chasing side racked up 231 for 8 eight when asked to bat first in the New Forest, on Saturday.
And after Gary Martin, batting at number five, had hit an unbeaten 80 to give the visitors maximum batting points, Hayling went on to win by 71 runs against Bramshaw.
The hosts were bowled out for 160 as an accurate spell from opening bowlers Mike Hallett and Dave Wayman pinned down Bramshaw in the Hampshire League County Division Four South match.
It kept skipper Phil Mist's men hot on the heels of leaders Rowner. The gap is just .92 of a point after 12 games.
Hayling, who have lost just once all season when the two sides met at Hayling Park, last month, demolished Emsworth in the local derby a week before their win over Bramshaw.
They thumped Emsworth by 166 runs despite making a shaky start on their own wicket as Emsworth dismissed five batsmen for just 90 runs.
The visitors had put Hayling into bat but Lever responded with a magnificent unbeaten century, eventually reaching 121 not out, supported by James Adams, who was unbeaten on 49 as they put on 145 runs for the seventh wicket.
The total of 235 for seven always looked too much for Emsworth.
Wayman conceded just eight runs in his 10 overs, picking up a single wicket while Graham Cottle took two for seven off his eight overs before Gorvin ripped the heart out of the visitors with a spell of five for 34.
