Hayling ready to host first-ever cup tie
HAYLING United play their first ever FA Cup tie at The College ground whey they entertain Blackfield & Langley in an all-Wessex League tie, on Saturday.
New manager Lee Paul is excited by the prospect of the FA Cup and is optimistic his side can progress at the expense of the team managed by former Pompey and Saints defender John Gittens.
He said: "It is the FA Cup and anything is possible, although we know Blackfield under John Gittens are always a tough proposition."
The club are relieved that the playing surface is ready to host the club's home debut in the world's oldest and most famous knockout football competition.
The Humbugs have an injury doubt over midfielder Peter Murphy, who has a back injury, but long serving striker Nic Edgington, who was converted successfully into a centre half by manager Mark Poulton in the latter half of last season, has re-signed.
Having lost an entire first-team during the pre-season, Paul will be hoping his hastily reassembled squad will continue to gel after last weekend's opening defeat in the Premier Division at the hands of Bournemouth Poppies.
Hayling United v Blackfield & Langley (KO 3pm): Clark, Goldring, Oliver, Snook, Ayers, Warren, Black, Clements, Field, Murphy, Rudling, Keogh, Turner, Edgington.
