Bowls club are P&D champions

HAYLING Island Bowls Club are ending their season on a high note to follow their best-ever start.

The men's Portsmouth & District team have been crowned Divison Four champions losing just one match throughout the season.

The Combination Team were runners-up in Combination Division Two and have been promoted to the top division.

Two members Neil Blacklin and John Davey represented Hampshire in a friendly against Surrey at the beginning of August.

The ladies have also had a good season, despite illness and injuries. However many have stepped up, gained experience and have played well for the teams.

As a result the D team won their league and gained promotion.Thanks go to ladies captain Sandy Pendergast, and her male counterpart Ray Hoskins, for their hard work during the season.
