In the main race, there were 89 unattached runners who, we hope with encouragement, will join a running club like Victory AC and get the full benefits of both the social and friendly supportive atmosphere of running for fun. By the halfway point the James Baker was leading with Ron Adams and Paul Bleach –both over 40 vets – close together.

The first woman was Victory AC's Sue Gardener, followed by clubmate Gina Turner and Angela Agate of Denmead Striders –all over 40 vets.

At the finish, James (Chichester Runners), stormed in to the finish looking relaxed as he crossed the line in a slower time than last year of 25mins 50secs,

The prizes were presented to all of the winners by Toby Shaw of the Portsmouth and Southsea Round Table and every runner reeived a medal.

Victory Athletic Club would like to thank sponsors Portsmouth and Southsea Round Table, whose volunteers helped on the night, and the Sinah Warren Leisure Club.

From the entry fees and donations from the runners Victory AC should be able to present a cheque to the three charities – FORT (Friends of Radiotherapy Trust) at Portsmouth's St Mary's Hospital, Macmillan Nurses and The Alzheimer's Society.
