Seacourt had their most successful annual badminton competition to date.
The standard was incredibly high which produced two weekends of first-class badminton.

The men's singles final was hotly contested, which saw Martin Richardson and Simon Flynn at the top of their games with a fine string of victories under their b
elt.

Martin went on to win the singles 21-15, 21-19 to win the title for the third time in five years.

In the ladies singles final, Debs Cook beat Sue Edwards in a great match.

The first set could of gone either way but Debs dug deep to sneak the set 22-20 and ran away with the second 21-12 to win the ladies singles title.

The mixed doubles was hotly contested and saw Debs Cook and Guy McBride go toe to toe with Nick Jones and Sue Edwards in a thrilling match.

The match swung to and froe but it was Debs and Guy that managed to find the winning combination to secure the title, 21-16, 21-15.

The men's doubles final saw the long time partnership of Martin Richardson and Nigel Ireson take on Simon Flynn and Nick Jones.

Despite numerous attempts and change of tactics, Nick and Simon couldn't find a way past the formidable partnership of Martin and Nigel, who went on to win 21-9, 21-5.

The ladies doubles was full of excitement and saw Angela Williams and Sue Edwards retain their title for the second year in a row with a fine win over Caroline MacDowell and Sandra Parker by 21-17, 21-12.

The Seacourt badminton machine keeps on rolling! With teams entered into both the PHBA Combination and Men's League for the first time, the Combination Team is riding high having won both there games to date against Highbury (9-0) and J9 (8-1).

The men's team have also had an equally good start in Division Two, having beaten Notorious 2 (4-0), Swanwick (3-1) and Highbury 2 (4-0).

They are on track to achieve there objective of gaining promotion.

Following the success in the Portsmouth Churches League last year, the team is also on track having won both games so far against Henry Cort (6-0) and Zerbini (6-0).

Squash continues to thrive at the club with four teams performing well in the Hampshire leagues, regular club nights and competitions and for those who are trying to gain that precious edge over their nemesis, there is a rackets fitness class every Wednesday running up to Christmas.

A big thank-you to all the squash captains. Let's hope we can bring home some silverware in the new year.

The John Parker is the annual Real Tennis handicap mixed doubles competition.

Last year's champions, Alex Garside and Josh Dodgson put in a fine performance to retain their title, by reaching the final where they met Louis Gordon and Sian Medlow.

The final was the most entertaining and the crowd held their breath at the shire pace of the game.

Nip and tuck all the way, Alex and Josh held a 40-love lead at 6-4 which could have been enough to secure the match.

But Louis had other ideas and he hit four winners to get back in the game.

Buoyed with new found confidence, Sian and Louis produced near floorless tennis and went onto win the title 8-6.

A big thank you to Anne Whitfield, John Parker's daughter who kindly presented the prizes.
