HAYLING Ladies had a lovely sunny day for the Ladies President Competition on June 5. Barbara Osbourne has served the club for three years as lady president, and this was the last one.
She will be a hard act to follow. The winners were Jean Leggett, Pam Davies and Maureen Mills, second were Andrea Burton, Sue Humphrey and Caroline Hague and third Daphne Benford, Sally White and Jennifer Berry. A good day.

Our Gold, Silver and Br
onze Championship was played over two rounds on May 29. The morning was lovely, but the afternoon round was absolutely awful, with a cloudburst ruining several games.

However, most of them struggled on, to their credit, and arrived completely soaked. Moira Hoath is the new Club Champion, Rosie Mist won the silver and Claire Kane the Bronze. The single round was won by Erica Everest. Penny Wilkins was second.

We have played all our Hayling Trophy matches and managed to get through to the semi-finals, but lost to Romsey, who went on to lose to Meon Valley in the final at Hayling on June 17.

The second round of the Knight Cup was played on May 10, when Barbara Osborne and Marie McCanna beat a team from Bramshaw with the very last putt.

Carly Hall and Katie Fernandez represented Hayling Ladies in the Gosport Centenary on June 11 and came fourth, which was a really good result.

The EML Trophy was played on May 7. Thirty six members took part with the winning team being Lucille Rogers and Brian Le Marquer.

It was the competition's 10th anniversary and was a special day for Frank Froud and two of his daughters who attended.

Our Ladies Open and the Mixed Open were both great successes in lovely weather - £280 was raised, over both events, for Alzheimer's, the lady captain's charity.

Maria Stokes qualified to play in the LGU Silver medal competition at Ogborne Downs, near Swindon, by returning the lowest aggregate of four nett scores in the Bronze Division of LGU medal competitions at Hayling last year.

She scored a 76 to come seventh out of 91 players.

Match results: May 13 beat Selsey 2½-1½. May 17 lost to Navy 3-0. May 21 beat Army 2-1. May 23 lost to Worthing 4-1. June 4 beat Brockenhurst 6½-½.
Stoneham Cup beat Alresford (away) 4-3 and (home) 4-3. Beat Wickham Park 7-0 and defeated Blackmoor 6-0.
