HAYLING United manager Mark Poulton laid into his players after they suffered a humiliating 9-1 defeat at Wimborne Town, on Tuesday.
A shell-shocked Poulton said: "I'm usually the first to defend my players but last night we made ourselves look a laughing stock..
"It has to be my most embarrassing experience in all my years in football.
"Some of the players should be ashamed of the way they played.
"I just hope it hurts them as much as it does me because there is no excuse for a lack of personal pride.
"We looked like a team that hasn't played or trained properly for eight weeks but that's no excuse."
Billy Huntley grabbed United's consolation goal in the second half.
It was the first time in 10 attempts that the Humbugs had been able to play since the onset of the bad weather before Christmas, which resulted in nine matches being cancelled.
