THE senior girls gymnastic team from The Hayling College beat off all opposition in the South East Hampshire Secondary Schools Gymnastics Competition at Park Community School, Leigh Park, at the end of April.
All pupils involved in the competition trained extremely hard and came in to college over the holiday period to perfect their routines.
It was a long day starting with yet more practicing at college. At midday 18 pupils made their way to the compe
tition, looking very smart and well-groomed.
They conducted themselves in an exceptional manner, applauding the other school's performances and showed great sportsmanship. Mrs Aylott was proud to be with the team.
Last to go was the senior group of Hannah Bowling, Sammy Price, Laura Wright, Zoe Jennings, Shannon Croxford and Lauren Walker.
Their routine was dynamic, controlled and really exciting. In Mrs Aylott's opinion the best routine performance of the day and worth waiting for the breathtaking back drop from Shannon in Year 7.
The element that impressed the school's head of PE the most about the team was the way they worked cohesively together in a great productive atmosphere.
The routine was the best she had ever seen them do. The group won their section and became senior group champions.
A massive well done to all who took part in this year's competition: Autumn Roffey, Emily Cornelius, Sophie Hall, Ella Johnson, Chloe Drummond, Lois Bibbins, Eleanor Geden, Katie Ward, Jessica Martin, Bethany Cornelius, Mia Gorst, Yvonne Wick, Hannah Bowling, Sammy Price, Laura Wright, Zoe Jennings, Shannon Croxford and Lauren Walker.
It was a tough competition with a lot of club gymnasts involved. None of the pupils in the winning team belong to a gymnastics club, making their victory even more sweet!
