College kids cop the FA Cup

THE magic of the FA Cup came to Hayling College as some 80 pupils got a close up with the trophy Pompey famously won at Wembley in May as students enjoyed a series of matches involving Island police and community safety officers (PCSOs).
The Multi-Agency Football Tournament on July 11, was organised by Sergeant Steve Pratley head of Hayling Police's Safer Neighbourhool Team.
The aim was for young people on the Island to interact with the beat officers and ACSOs, who felt it was a good opportunity to engage with the younger generation of the community.
Sgt Pratley said: "It was a great afternoon. We held a similar event just before Christmas and saw a very positive increase in the communication between ourselves and the pupils from the school.
"This time we also had the CSOs present which gave everyone the opportunity to engage in a fun way.
"Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and I would like to thank Hayling Hardware for sponsoring the trophies and of course Portsmouth Football Club for allowing us to have the FA Cup present giving everyone a photo opportunity."
Sgt Pratley hopes the event will become a biannual one to continue the progress on communication between teenagers and the police.
