10-wicket win keeps Hayling top
HAYLING Island stormed to a 10-wicket victory over IBM Hursley in County Division Four South of the Hampshire League, on Saturday.
The league leaders won their fifth league game in a row as the hosts dismissed the visitors for just 87 as leading wicket-taker David Gorvan skittled out IBM with another five-wicket haul.
In-form batsman Mike Lever hit a half-century as Hayling Island remained unbeaten in their league campaign.
Victory kept Phil Mist's men above rivals Rowner and Redlynch & Gale with Hayling adding five bowling and seven bonus batting points to their 12 points for the win.
It left them with an average points total of 23 - 1.2 points more than Rowner, who moved above Redlynch & Hale with a win over fourth placed Hambledon II.
Hayling's game against Redlynch at West Town, was rained off on the Whitsun Bank Holiday weekend.
Hayling had kept up the pressure on their rivals with a 158-run win over Havant III, at Hayling Park, two weeks ago.
This weekend, Hayling will travel to Privett Park where Gosport Borough II are their opponents.
