Promenade much more appealing

I HAVE been investigating the "breakwater" proposed for the eastern part of Hayling Island's southern shore.

The effect this will have on the coastline is anybody's guess but one thing is for sure: between Eastoke and Sandy Point no swimmer will every again experience the fun of bouncing up and down in the waves.

By chance I came across an alternative solution. At Dymchurch, near Folkestone, several miles of sea wall are being rebuilt.

Technical features deal with the tides and the waves and leave room for two splendid parallel promenades.

Now that really would do Hayling Island some good.
