A HUSBAND pays tribute to his wife who died after an accident while the pair were holidaying in Spain in April.

David and Pam Brockington were at their holiday home in Javea, Alicante, which they have had for forty years and visited yearly, when Pam, who had suffered a stroke four years ago, passed away after having a fall.

Born in New Malden, south west London in 1941, Pam met her husband while she working in her father’s shop in Hildenborough, Kent, when she was 19 and David was working as an industrial chemist in nearby Tonbridge. Married in 1960, the pair settled down a year later in Emmanuel Road, Hastings, raising their two children, Anne, 48, and Paul, 49. For the past 40 years, Pam and David have lived in St Helen’s Park Road.

David, 75, said: “Pam was very bubbly, she had this stroke a few years ago but she still enjoyed life. She was just a very bubbly person.

Pam was also an avid traveller, driving across the United States, from coast to coast, with her husband and travelling to some far-flung places such as Indonesia, India and Hong Kong. David added:“Pam loved to travel and going on cruises. In fact we were suppose we going away in June but it wasn’t meant to be.”

In Kerala, India, Pam and David had adopted a family of four after meeting the husband, who was their taxi driver, nine years ago.

Pam, who loved Hastings, was also a dedicated volunteer, working with the Halton Baptist Church, Old London Road, as an officer for the Girls’ Brigade. She volunteered for some 15 years for the church, working with girls and young women.

A service for Pam’s life was held at Halton Baptist Church on Thursday, May 8 at 2pm.
