Station opening hours changed

On the Beat by Sergeant STEVE PRATLEY YOU may recall that earlier this year I sought feedback from residents with regards to the opening times of Hayling Police Station.

This was brought about as a result of numerous requests on the Your Voice Counts leaflets asking for earlier opening times.

I have always maintained that I am open to suggestions, however with the increasing number of methods open to the public to report incidents, we are unable to increase the opening hours.

I am now pleased to advise that following a number of surveys and analysis of feedback the opening hours are now going to change in January.

From Monday, January 4, the opening hours will be Monday-Thursday from 10am-2pm and Friday between 4pm and 8pm.

I would again reiterate that should you attend the station outside these times wishing to speak with an officer urgently then the phone on the outside wall should be used, and an officer will be asked to return to the station.

Panel priorities

The Safer Neighbourhood Panel sat at the Island's Community Board meeting at The Bridge Centre, on November 9.

I reported that I had not received any details of any new issues.

The panel would like to hear of any issues that you may have within our community.

These do not purely have to be linked with the police. Questions that residents should ask themselves are:-

What can be done to improve the community?

How can we ensure a good quality of life for everyone?

The issues are collated anonymously, and then presented at the next panel meeting where the panel will vote on a maximum of three local priorities.

As a panel, and working in partnership with other agencies, we then work on those priorities to hopefully achieve a satisfactory result.

Come and tell us what is important to you in your neighbourhood.

You can influence these priorities by speaking to members of the team, panel, completing a "Your voice counts" leaflet or simply e-mailing us.

These priorities will then be discussed and voted on at the next Community Board meeting.

The priorities are currently:

Anti-social behaviour in Hayling, Mengham and Hamfield Park

Youth engagement on Hayling Island

Criminal damage on the seafront.

Christmas and New Year

Finally I would like to take this opportunity to wish all residents of Hayling a very happy Christmas and New Year from the team.

This year has seen a considerable increase in the multi-agency work carried out and more engagement with the community, which is something that I am very keen we continue to work on together in 2010.

Contacting the TeamYou can contact us on 0845 045 4545 and ask for Hayling Island's Safer Neighbourhoods Team.

If no one is available to take your call, leave a message and an officer will call you back.

Alternatively you can email us on hayling.island.snt@ hampshire.pnn.police.uk - we look forward to hearing from you.
