Rain forecast means Hayling Island garden party is cancelled

BAD weather has forced the cancellation of a garden party.

Hampshire County Council-run Orchard Close, in Hayling Island, hosts a garden party every year to say thank you to volunteers who help maintain the special sensory gardens.

Orchard Close is a residential home which provides short stays for adults with learning disabilities, giving a break to their families.

The garden is a tranquil place to relax but also has a lawn to play football, wildlife and an orchard.

This year’s celebration was scheduled for Friday but the recent heavy rain and a poor forecast has forced the council to call it off.
