Mystery over anonymous Hayling Island letter

DETECTIVES are making a direct appeal to a woman who sent an anonymous letter to police.

The letter, which was posted in Devon, is from a woman reporting she was the victim of a crime on Hayling Island during the late 1980s or early 1990s.

Police say they have tried to trace the woman and find out more about the crimes but have not been successful.

In the letter, the woman indicated she would make contact with police again if she saw a message from officers on the Hampshire Constabulary website.

On Facebook, the force said: ‘Police would urge the letter writer to call PC Owen Woods at Cosham Police Station on (023) 9289 1741 or contact via email owen.woods@hampshire.pnn.police.uk so the available options can be discussed.’
